Our Vision is to have quality afterschool for all children in Utah.
Our mission is to build partnerships and policies that are committed to the development and sustainability of quality afterschool programs.
Greetings. This is an exciting time for the Utah Afterschool Network. I look forward to sharing the year ahead with all of you as we work together to build partnerships and policies that are committed to the development and sustainability of quality afterschool programs. I am enthused by the spirit of collaboration with which we are setting about the goals and tasks of a statewide network.
Our future course will be built on the firm foundation laid out by many of you at previous statewide meetings and by my predecessor, Shanni Call, who devoted countless hours to UAN and guided it skillfully through birth and infancy; what future success we may have will, in part, be thanks to her.
Having served in the field of school age programs for 18 years, I have watched and participated with interest as afterschool programs have emerged and flourished both statewide and nationally. As a firm supporter of afterschool programs in Utah, I will work with diligence, energy and commitment to further the mission, goals and objectives of the network and to meet your high expectations.
Our objectives at UAN are three-fold: first, support state-wide afterschool partnerships that will impact policy development at all levels; second, secure resources and funding for afterschool programs; and third, promote high quality afterschool programs. We ask for your assistance in helping us to promote these goals by submitting your program information today on our new website.
Connecting to a statewide afterschool network offers you the opportunity to add your voice to many others to galvanize key decision makers – the governor, city mayors, chief state and local school officers, legislators and educators – around the issue of expanding quality afterschool programs.
Utahafterschool.org is the electronic gateway to our organization. Join us in making a lasting impact on the children and youth in Utah.
Thank you,
Christine Forstner
